Artist’s Holiday Shows

Michele Montour

December 3, 2006
Belleville, MI

Along with Michele's work, featured artists at the Michigan show include:

Pamela Arquette

Pam handweaves a distinctive line of “wearable art.” She creates clothing and accessories that combine structure, material and texture with artistic expression. In 2005, Pam exhibited at the Ella Sharp Museum, the Jackson Area Fine Arts Show, and won the Fiber Arts Network Award.

Joy Cichewicz

Joy has been playing in fire with molten glass for 5 years to create one-of-kind beads. Her beads share the same characteristics she admires in her friends: whimsical, humorous, strong, and comfortable in their bodies. As a metalsmith, she uses her beads in bead pens, necklaces and one-of-a-kind earrings. In 2006, Joy was awarded second place in Lapidary Journal’s Bead Arts Awards and was a finalist in Bead and Button magazine’s Bead Dreams Contest.

Amy Farnum

Amy Farnum has been exhibiting her artwork for over 15 years. She uses a combination of beadwork, metalsmithing, and textiles skills to continually find new ways to capture her ideas in her jewelry design. Her work is influenced by the complex patterns of Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts artwork. Her beadweaving designs have been published in “Bead and Button.”

Anne Flora

Anne received her BFA from the University of Iowa and started her Master’s program in Printmaking. She moved to NYC and worked at the Printmaking Workshop for several years. Anne has had several pieces juried in shows in Yugoslavia, German, Chile and Australia. Anne has recently ventured into surface design and felting. Her unique hats can be found around the country at various galleries.

Sue Hubbard

Sue has been working with glass for 9 years. Her father in-law taught her the technique of stained glass and recently she began making fused glass. Each assembled piece is kilned-fired up to temperatures as high as 1500 degrees and then annealed at a lower temperature. It may take up to 48 hours to complete each of these one-of-a-kind pieces.

Nancy McKay

Nancy specializes in silk painting and thread work. Her pieces often incorporate collage and quilting. Nancy exhibits her fine art, wearables and décor at local and regional galleries. She exhibited in the Fourth International Silk Painting Congress in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and was awarded Third Place.

Pat Thompson

Pat explores many fiber avenues – knitting, weaving, paper making, quilting and bead work. She combines paper, wood and fiber in her interior weavings. Pat Thompson is an award winning member of the Ann Arbor Fiberarts Guild, the Brighton Art Guild, the Michigan League of Handweaver’s, the Black Sheep Weavers’ Guild and the Handweavers Guild of America.
